Cervical Smears

The Health Authority call-up system allows us to call women for cervical smears every three or five years depending on your age. You should be called routinely for your smear at the correct time but if you have any concerns please discuss them with the nurse or your doctor. If there are any abnormalities on your smear we would act on them accordingly but you will be advised in writing with your results. Please bring a stamped addressed envelope with you when you attend for your smear test. If you need further Investiagtions following your smear you may be contacted direct by the hospital with ann appointment.

We carry out routine development checks on children at eight weeks. Please make an appointment when your child is 8 weeks old and also book in at the same time for the postnatal examination and with the nurse for the child's first immunisations.  

Contraceptive Care

A full range of contraceptive care is offered, including referral for vasectomy. Our nurses are trained to offer all types of contraceptive advice. Do not hesitate to ask for an appointment if you need contraceptive advice.  

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception. If you have any concerns that you might be pregnant due to unprotected intercourse or possible failure of contraception and need emergency contraception then please ask for an emergency appointment that day. You may be referred to the nurse practitioner who will be able to deal with the problem. It is important that you do not delay so please make sure to say that you need an emergency appointment.  

Diabetic Clinics

The practice aims to offer at least an annual appointment to every diabetic at which all aspects of care are assessed.  

Asthma Clinics

Various times a week there is a clinic for asthma patients . This offers advice about the nature of asthma, use of inhalers and how to monitor your asthma.  

Heart Disease Clinics

To ensure the best treatment for patients with heart disease, they are reviewed at least once a year.  

Immunisations

vaccination11Ask at reception for details of how to book children in for immunisations. Children receive their first five in one together with meningitus C vaccinations at two, three and four months of age.

The MMR vaccination is received at thirteen months and a pre-school booster at four years old. Your child should be called at the appropriate time for the vaccinations, but if you have any worries please feel free to discuss them with you health visitor, the nurses or your doctor.  

Insurance / Driving Medicals

Your doctor is able to offer medicals for Insurance companies, Driving medicals etc. Please ask at reception and we will get back to you with an appointment and advise you of the cost. A full list of private fees for medicals, certificates, insurance forms etc is available at the surgery entrance Reception Desk.  

Maternity Care

Our Midwives conduct the majority of our antenatal and postnatal care. All doctors are available if any problem occurs. The Midwives hold their clinics on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
