Travel advice and Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to fill in the Travel Health Questionnaire (link below), once this is filled in you will then need to call the surgery to book in for a telephone consultation with one of our Practice Nurses. Please allow at least 8 weeks prior to travelling. This allows the nurse to plan an immunisation schedule. If a second appointment is required the Practice Nurse will book you into a travel clinic.

This service provided by our nursing team includes any travel advice, immunisations and Malaria prophylaxis.

The following vaccinations are available free to charge to patients under the NHS:

  • Tetanus with Diphtheria & Polio
  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis A

The following vaccinations are not covered by the NHS and a charge will be required, which must be paid prior to your second appointment as the practice will need to purchase them in advance:

  • Meningitis ACWY
  • Hepatitis B
  • Cholera
  • Rabies

Please note:

Yellow fever is not available at our practice and will need to be administered at least 10 days before travel.

Patients not able to give us 8 weeks notice or with very complex travel itineries or who do not attend their appointment may be directed to a private travel clinic.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
